Oilfield Chemistry(ISSN 1000–4092, CN 51–1292/TE), founded in 1984, is a quarterly journal issued on the 25th of the last month of each season. The journal is governed by China National Petroleum Corporation, and sponsored by the Polymer Research Institute of Sichuan University and State Key Laboratory of Polymer Materials Engineering (Sichuan University). It is a scientific journal distributed domestically and internationally. The Editor-in-Chief is Prof. ZHANG Xi, and the deputy Editor-in-Chief is Prof. HUANG Ronghua.
Aim and Scope
The journal aims to facilitate academic communication between the petroleum and natural gas industry and the fields of chemistry and chemical engineering, biochemical engineering.
The journal focuses on applied technologies and theories, as well as relevant basic theories. Content involves state-of-art technologies, methods, products, and their applications in the field of drilling, cementing, oil and gas recovery, gathering and transportation, oil-gas field wastewater treatment, corrosion, and protection.

This journal won the "Excellent Scientific and Technological Journal" by China National Petroleum Corporation in 2013, 2015, and 2018.
On July 6, 2020, the Geological Society of China released the Ranking Directory of High-Quality S&T Journals in the Field of Geoscience, where the journal belongs to T2 (internationally renowned and highly influential authoritative journals).
In October 2020, it was selected as one of the "Top 100 Industry Journals in the Petroleum and Chemical Industry" and "Top 50 Academic Journals" by the China Chemical Industry Information Association (CCIIA).
In 2020, 2022 and 2024, it was rated as one of the "Top 100 Chinese University Scientific and Technological Journals" by the Society of China University Journals.
In A Report on Chinese Academic Journals Evaluation (2020, 6th edition), the journal was evaluated as an RCCSE Core Journal (A) and ranked 10th out of 165 in the subject (Chemical Engineering).
In 2021, it was recognized as an Advanced Information Institute in the national petrochemical industry during the 13th Five-Year Plan.
In 2022, it was selected as a High-quality Chinese Scientific Journal under the "Xiniu Plan".
It was awarded Outstanding Scientific Journal among the universities of Sichuan Province in 2022.
