The mechanism of the formation and stability of non-aqueous foam，especially the crude oil foam，was analyzed，the main factors influencing the formation and stability of the crude oil foams were discussed，and the experimental methods to research the crude oil foams were introduced. In addtion，the research prospect of crude oil foams，which is useful for the further study of crude oil foaming and defoaming，was proposed.
