Cement material has the characteristics of porosity and hydrophilicity, easy to make water infiltration and destroy the internal structure. Hydrophobic cement has the properties of antifouling and waterproof, thus slowing down the corrosion and damage of cement to a certain extent. Existing studies have shown that adding oleic acid to a cement system with significant hydrophobicity in every part of its structure is effective, but not uniform. In this study, oleic acid coated quartz sand (OA-1) was introduced into cement and the wettability and compressive strength of cement test blocks were tested. The results were compared with those of adding oleic acid directly (OA-2) and using isopropanol to dissolve oleic acid (OA-3). The test results showed that OA-1 Cement with oleic acid content of 5% had the best hydrophobic effect. The average value of the measured WCA can reach 145.18°, and the compressive strength after curing for 3 days is greater than 21MPa. The microstructure and chemical composition of hydrophobic cement were characterized by SEM and XRD. This method greatly improves the hydrophobicity and impermeability of cement and has potential application value in future construction and cementing projects.
