Categories and research progress of profile control and displacement with foam were summarized. The mechanism of profile control and displacement with all kinds of foam was analyzed, the synergetic mechanism of profile control and displacement with foam and other chemical agent was also analyzed. The disadvantages of profile control and displacement with foam were pointed out in mechanism research and field application at present, and its development directions was proposed.
